It’s like an old saying – something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.
When you book your wedding at Langley Oaks at First Christian Church of Pensacola, you can have all four.
Langley Oaks at the First Christian Church of Pensacola at 6031 Goodrich Drive is Pensacola’s newest wedding location. Langley Oaks in the First Christian Church of Pensacola is named for the ancient oak trees that are scattered along the landscape and hopes to attract young people as well as couples who want an outdoor ceremony.
“We found that wedding prices were prohibitive for many couples. Many young couples wanted a traditional church wedding but did not have a house church,” said Martha Heckman, property chairman and project manager of Pensacola’s First Christian Church. “We felt we could serve the community by using our facilities and grounds as a wedding venue.”
A member of the First Christian Church of Pensacola since 1957, Heckman has been actively involved in real estate modernization and spreading the message of what the entire church has to offer.
“Martha has a great vision for the future,” said Louise Baker, director of worship at Pensacola’s First Christian Church. “I learned a long time ago that if she has a vision, you have to stand behind her. She turned this church inside out.”

The sanctuary itself can accommodate up to 130 guests, while the lobby and outdoor memorial garden can accommodate up to 75 guests. If you want a band or a wedding DJ at your reception, a dance floor and sound system are also available. While wax candles are not allowed in the sanctuary, oil candles can be used.
“We can also supply the tablecloths and linens,” said Heckman. “We have red, white, champagne and navy blue to choose from.”
In addition to the function rooms, further amenities include a large kitchen for preparing and serving food, a cozy bridal suite and a room for the groom and the groomsmen. The bridal suite, decorated in white, gray and neutral colors, also has an attached bathroom and a closet for the wedding party to prepare for the ceremony.
“We’re not wedding planners,” said Heckman. “We’re just the venue, that’s all we are. Since we own all the facilities and property, we can offer a more affordable venue with as much elegance and formality as the couple wants it to be.”
However, that doesn’t mean you are completely on your own throughout the process. After initial contact, a representative can offer tours of the property and answer any questions. Once the date is determined, a 30% deposit is required to secure the reservation.
“We wanted someone to get married on February 2, 2022 or on February 2, 22,” said Heckman. “But that particular date falls on a Wednesday.”
If you haven’t had a chance to attend their Soft Open House last month, you can check out their booth at the upcoming Beautiful Beginnings Bridal Expo from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM on January 9th at the Pensacola Bay Center.
