KNOXVILLE, Tennessee (WATE) – It’s the most important day in many women’s lives: their wedding anniversary. However, the dream day can turn into a nightmare for many if a salesperson doesn’t get through.
Wedding DJ and administrative assistant for the Smoky Mountain wedding company Ellen Crivellone saw it all. She’s even hosted weddings where the Gatlinburg-based catering company Happy Pinecone Cafe failed to keep their promises.
“It was a situation where she told the bride she was coming and she was on her way and she told the wedding planner and we got someone to show up and they just had hot soup and salad and said who Koch would come and “didn’t end,” said Crivellone.
Brides say the catering company Gatlinburg almost ruined their weddings
Dozens of brides across the country say they have had similar experiences with this company, which is why Ellen wanted to draw more attention to the wedding party. She wants brides to know another source to check out the sellers performing their weddings. She knows that situations like this are not reserved for catering companies only.
“My husband and I are both DJs and we run our DJ company, and we’ve had at least seven calls from DJs this year, either the day before, the day of the wedding, or even the week of the bride’s wedding,” said Crivellone.
After the aftermath of the Happy Pinecone Cafe’s sudden closure, Ellen wanted to help brides avoid such experiences and show that this store does not represent all of Gatlinburg’s stores. She knows she cannot undo the damage done, but she can get the word out through the SMWA.
“The wedding club is a not for profit,” said Crivellone. “We promote weddings and events in our area. And it just tries to draw attention to the fact that there is an association here that supports both local and target brides. “
Each company in the group is a local wedding provider. Everyone must pay an annual membership and meet certain criteria in order to be accepted.
“By working together, we know who is helping brides the way they should and who isn’t,” said Crivellone.
“That is inexcusable for me,” says the bride about Gatlinburg Catering No-Show
Ellen hopes this can be another tool that brides can use to double-check their salespeople before the big day and hopefully prevent even more chaos. The Happy Pinecone Café did not have an SMWA membership. Nor were they registered with the Better Business Bureau.
“If you don’t get married differently in the area you’re getting married in, see the Chamber of Commerce,” Crivellone said. “If you’re definitely getting married locally, check out the Sevierville Chamber of Commerce, the Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce, and the Pigeon Forge Chamber of Commerce. They all know weddings in the area, they also know the Smoky Mountain Wedding Association. ”
